The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus is a fantastical morality tale, set in the present day. It tells the story of Dr Parnassus and his extraordinary ‘Imaginarium’, a travelling show where members of the audience get an irresistible opportunity to choose between light and joy or darkness and gloom.

A great movie, with great actors, a fantastic tale, for every public, to pull you out of your daily routine and usual movies.

Its 1969, and Elliot Tiber, a down-on-his-luck interior designer in Greenwich Village, New York, has to move back upstate to help his parents run their dilapidated Catskills motel, The El Monaco. The banks about to foreclose; his father wants to burn the place down, but hasn’t paid the insurance; and Elliot is still figuring how to come out to his parents.

When Elliot hears that a neighboring town has pulled the permit on a hippie music festival, he calls the producers, thinking he could drum up some much-needed business for the motel. Three weeks later, half a million people are on their way to his neighbors farm in White Lake, NY, and Elliot finds himself swept up in a generation-defining experience that would change his life, and American culture, forever.

A small movie, but that is worth to watch in cinemas (probably in the smallest theater of your city) for the feeling it shows about Woodstock.

A paraplegic marine dispatched to the moon Pandora on a unique mission becomes torn between following his orders and protecting the world he feels is his home.

This movie has been advertized everywhere and was already famous before to be on theaters. It was with big expectations that we step in the cinemas. Huge budget, great graphics, great 3D: that is what we knew we were going to get.

In the end, here are our small conclusions about this movie: YOU SHOULD SEE IT. Better, you should see it in 3D. Whether or not you like science fiction, whether or not you are into American movies, you should definitely go to see that movie and make up your own opinion about it. Indeed, it is worth the ticket. The 3D effects are stunning indeed, and the planet on which our heroes discover their true selves, fight for their freedom, is a great realization. In other worlds, the special effects themselves are worth the ticket.

Now the story? Ecology, Love, Romance, War,  Friendship, everything is there. Unluckily, the actors may not be the best to express all these ideas. That is he only thing we found a bit disappointing in that movie: some characters, and some dialogs were so exaggerated, or maybe the actors play was so bad that it almost seemed like a parody.

But hey, not every movie can be perfect! They will hire better actors for the second opus!

Julia Child and Julie Powell – both of whom wrote memoirs – find their lives intertwined. Though separated by time and space, both women are at loose ends… until they discover that with the right combination of passion, fearlessness and butter, anything is possible.

A really good comedy, and as it comes from true stories, it gives an additional touch to the movie, somehow it sounds more “real”. I really advise you to go see it, you won’t regret it!

Set in a futuristic world where humans live in isolation and interact through surrogate robots, a cop (Willis) is forced to leave his home for the first time in years in order to investigate the murders of others’ surrogates.

The original idea was nice, they could have made anice movie out of it, but somehow the story does not take benefit of the idea. Instead of going deep and trying to make something out a society where people would not live outside, but send cyber versions of themselves in the outside world, the idea is just “scratched” on the surface, and we end up with a “save the world” movie, and not really a good one. In the end, this movie was myabe a bit disappointing, even if Bruce Willis brings his usual touch and fits in the role of the savior, the hero, as in many other movies before. This time though, his talent was not enough.

A young Carl Fredrickson meets a young adventure spirited girl named Ellie. They both dream of going to a Lost Land in South America. 70 years later, Ellie has died. Carl remembers the promise he made to her. Then, when he inadvertently hits a construction worker, he is forced to go to a retirement home. But before they can take him, he and his house fly away. However he has a stowaway aboard. An 8 year old boy named Russell, whose trying to get an assisting the elderly badge. Together, they embark in an adventure, where they encounter talking dogs, an evil villain and a rare bird named Kevin.
